Danger Zone: Aiden Pearce VS Dokkaebi
Aiden Pearce, the Grey Fox of Chicago.
Dokkaebi, Team Rainbow’s resident hacking specialist.
The future is now. In the backdrop of society, there exists secret organizations and those who enjoy manipulating millions in the shadows. It is up to these unassuming greyhat hackers to reveal those organizations to the shadows, to bring their shameful actions into the public eye.
However, as you might know, this backdoor isn’t open to everyone. When these two brilliant technophiles come into conflict, there’s going to be more than just a few security breaches going on. In this case, you’ll have to ask ChatGPT* one amazing question: Who would win… a DEATH BATTLE!?
*This is a joke. Do not fucking do this. Seriously.
Before We Start…
Wow! I finally got a blog working without the Google Doc export method!
For this blog, we’ll be taking a pretty simple avenue for both series, being their primary canons and secondary stories that exist within the continuity.
For Aiden Pearce, this includes the entire WATCH_DOGS series - WATCH_DOGS 1, 2, and LΞGION - as Aiden personally appears in all three games. We’ll also reference secondary media such as WATCH_DOGS T⬤KYO, a side manga that acts parallel to WATCH_DOGS 2, and the various comics / graphic novels released for WATCH_DOGS and LΞGION.
For Dokkaebi, this simply includes the whole Clancyverse franchise. Rainbow Six Siege (which will be logged as of Operation System Override) is an obvious inclusion, as well as prior Rainbow Six titles. However, this also includes Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, H.A.W.X, and the various alternate world storylines like The Division, EndWar, and Rainbow Six Extraction.
This will also be a bit of a controversial decision, but we will also be looking into crossovers for both characters. Though this is usually frowned upon, both WATCH_DOGS and Rainbow Six have avenues for scaling to other verses, which we will be exploring in-depth as you read further into this blog. Please don’t write us out because of this, it would make us very sad.

Aiden Pearce
“My enemies may run Chicago, but I control it.”
Background
Aiden Pearce grew up rough, having to constantly protect his family from the threats within his neighborhood. This upbringing fueled his paranoia and belief that his family could always be in danger, so he took up computers and hacking with the intention to protect his family, to make sure that no one could mess with them. As a result, he began to draw himself further into criminal activities, eventually ending up in a gang and becoming an underground fixer - a contract assassin - for hire. However, he intended on leaving this past behind once his sister Nicole had two children, Jackson and Lena, leading to him taking up a fatherly role in the absence of their own.
Aiden eventually took arms with a fellow hacker known as Damien Brenks, teaching each other a variety of different skills in hacking before a job at the Merlaut Hotel, owned by the richest man in Chicago, Lucky Quinn. The man believed that Aiden and Damien, who were actually in pursuit of money, were instead after incriminating blackmail material against the mayor, which he used to control the city. The duo were then compromised by a hacker, and Damien’s attempt to hunt him down caused the two to get identified.
Aiden immediately stormed off to protect his family against the threat that was coming, but it was too late. While taking his family to safety, a hitman shot out the tires on his car and Lena was killed as a result, leading Aiden on a path of vengeance against all he believed was at fault. He established his own secret hideout and began to work as a vigilante, looking into anyone who was related to the death of his niece and swiftly taking them down. He became allies with Jordi Chin, another fixer who would extensively support Aiden in his goals at the cost of a few favors. Eleven months later, he captured the hitman, Maurice Vega and chased down a prank caller on his sister during a birthday party that same day. With the help of a hacker named Clara Lille, Pearce eventually found who was responsible; Damien, who was still focused on trying to find the hacker who compromised their mission at the hotel. But as he knew Aiden would deny his request for help, he kidnapped Nicole.
After setting up an abandoned ctOS facility as home base with Clara, Aiden partnered with former developer Raymond “T-Bone” Kenney, the man responsible for creating ctOS’ encryption system, which gave him enough firepower to eventually come in line with Damien. However, it was revealed to Aiden that Clara was involved in the hit against him, indirectly causing his niece’s death and causing him to angrily dismiss her. This alerted Kenney, who was informed that Clara attempted to trade herself for Nicole’s life after Aiden had already saved his sister. This led to Clara being killed by hitmen as soon as Aiden tried to save her, and broke Pearce’s heart.
He held full intention to end everything that happened, with a plan to bring down ctOS as a whole. Aiden started by releasing the blackmail against the mayor as revenge for murdering Clara. However, this angered Damien, who wanted to use the blackmail for his own purposes, and began destroying the city with his newly gained control of ctOS as a response. To counter Damien, Aiden and T-Bone established a blackout, allowing Aiden the opportunity to kill Damien and end his reign of terror. As a result, Aiden embraced his role as a vigilante, and became a notorious figure in Chicago after seemingly losing everything. He would take on targets for years, expanding far out of the city as a result.
17 years later, Jordi gave Aiden a contract; go to London and infiltrate BrocaTech Labs to steal a device. But it turned out a hacker named Wrench was also after the device too, and after a brief scuffle, Aiden was incapacitated from the fight and held captive by CEO Thomas Rempart. Yet, thanks to his ingenuity, Aiden was able to hack his way out of his imprisonment and also complete his real mission; visit his nephew Jackson, whom he’d been estranged from due to his vigilante activities. After an awkward reunion, Jackson and Aiden agreed to work together against Rempart, though the former would soon after be kidnapped by Rempart. Now allied with Wrench, who held a grudge against the CEO, Aiden managed to break out Jackson, but the extent of the injuries he gained in the process caused him to fall into a coma.
Thanks to BrocaTech’s founder Skye Larsen, who forged an alliance with the three for her facilities back from Rempart, Jackson dug into Aiden’s inner psyche experimental technology. This was highly revealing to Jackson how truly scarred Aiden was from the tribulations he faced in the 17 years since Lena’s death, and after reconciling, Aiden awakened from his comatose state. The Pearces then helped Wrench put an “end” to the CEO himself, before joining the London branch of the hacker group DedSec.
Having to break open the scars he was forced to shut while on the run, perhaps Aiden can now offer a difference in the world that didn’t hurt his family this time.
Experience and Skill
Aiden Pearce is a master hacker who has worked all throughout the city of Chicago and thereafter into the rest of the world as ctOS grew into a worldwide phenomenon. Ever since he began, Aiden has had a knack for hacking; he could hack an entire building and drain money out of it undetected, create blackouts both in buildings and across the whole city, and has become a very well-known hacker to those of DedSec due to his skill. He was able to hack into the servers of the Loop, which was something Dedsec failed to perform. Immediately following this, Aiden is generally hunted down by fixers, forcing him to use various resources to find out other hackers and their identities as they stalk him in crowds. This gives him the opportunity to take out the enemy fixer hunting him once he identifies them. Aiden is further shown to be able to deal with enemy fixers with no problem, thanks in part to his experience in the work. With Jordi’s support, Aiden was arrested and put behind bars and mere access to his phone allowed him to escape, as well as initiate combat with officers and make sure his witness could not speak out on his case.
Aiden can apply his hacking tactics in awareness for situations, too, such as deducing that Wrench might have either been causing remote attacks on people or that he was simply invisible although this might be more obvious than implied. Earlier in his career, he was able to chase the hitman who killed his niece for a time period that at most would have lasted less than 11 months. After Jordi had gotten the police called afterwards, Aiden’s mission was to get out of the building without being caught, which he successfully performed without getting caught via creating a stadium blackout. He can also use hacking to gain intel on enemies just by looking in their general direction, using it to get blackmail material or find out special attributes of a person like their career, criminal charges, or if they might commit a crime/are dangerous. In the words of a psychologist, Aiden Pearce always masks himself, always intending on gaining an upper hand in every situation possible even if it’s non-hostile; this enables him to control people for information, or threaten them with extermination if they don’t comply. With the usage of this and ctOS, Aiden Pearce successfully stole an auctioneer’s identity by killing him off and then infiltrated the sex slave auction to further his goal of revenge.
Pearce definitely isn’t a slacker in combat, either. He might seem like a guy with nothing but a phone, but his self-taught street training and later professional martial arts training employed skills far greater than most fixers. He can easily take down armed guards and soldiers, being skilled enough to outgun entire police rushes against him in turn. He can win entire shootouts single handedly, taking out groups of police en masse in a prison while he would be armed with very little except scavenged weapons and his phone. He has also protected himself while barely armed (CONTENT WARNING), and even while drunk could still keep up with Raymond Kennedy in combat despite being at an obvious disadvantage. Even by the end of the game after everything is said and done, Aiden was still fighting crime in Chicago until he was trapped in WATCH_DOGS 2 after extending towards San Francisco due to a prepared assault, and then in his older years reappeared in London retaining those same combat skills with support of Dedsec. He is regarded as a legendary combatant, looked highly upon DedSec members like Marcus as well as others due to his crime-fighting and hacking notoriety.
Stealth Mastery
A big factor of Aiden’s combat is that he’s pretty much as sly as a fox, granted stealth is one of the main ways you can play WATCH_DOGS… yeah, really, even if no one does. He can take on targets from various angles, such as behind them, or even come in from above to deliver a killing blow. He’s also able to use cover as a method in order to hide away from foes and potentially even outgun them if he’s in a fight. As demonstrated in the beginning of WATCH_DOGS, Aiden had to learn from his mistakes as he was put into a situation that led to him being discovered, resulting in the death of his niece, leading to him becoming a vigilante who couldn’t be captured by the police across an (at least) 11-month span beginning from his niece’s death. His hacking comes into play with his stealth, too, as he can just bump into someone and take information and play the role as an unsuspecting citizen. This is often used to steal money from ATMs or give him the ability to simply find one’s identity.
Equipment
Vigilante Outfit
An outfit worn by Aiden almost all of the time, his vigilante outfit is quite simple. The usage of an overcoat and bandana means he can keep his face covered, and that’s amplified to a much greater degree because he can use his grey cap to cover his face. It’s great for keeping his face unidentifiable, though it’s already easy to do that considering Aiden erased his data from ctOS systems.
Cellphone
The Cellphone is Aiden’s primary means of influencing and interacting with ctOS, having history with both 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 iterations of the operating system; we don’t know far his mastery goes with 2.0 beyond adapting into it across the years, but he became a genius at manipulating ctOS 1.0 and that carried into a mastery of manipulating the more complex and futuristic ctOS 3.0 system.
Aiden’s phone allows him to access a variety of simple apps for use. He can instantly order vehicles from the Car on Demand app provided he has unlocked them before, in which he’ll be able to hack his details onto their records through the underground car dealership. He can also steal music from others to listen to on his own and play them while walking through the streets of Chicago, and contact most contracts and employers with his phone to engage with them.
Aiden’s phone can decrypt files on its own, decrypt and bypass network firewalls, handle file uploads on the fly, etc. His profiler and phone also wield security measures that he can lower, but makes it impossible to easily hack data should he connect to something like the public network. To contrast against protective firewalls, Aiden’s phone can also infect networks and websites with destructive viruses that can leak your address which he carries personally and can remotely upload.
Optik
A modern item that Aiden obtains seventeen years after WATCH_DOGS in his pursuit of vigilantism, this device connects to one’s eye on the right temple to allow them a more conscious view of their surroundings. The Optik allows access to everything your phone would, like the internet, with the addition of being able to visualize it with a constantly active AR screen. Supposedly, Optik porn is the best thing in the world as a result and. For more humane use cases, the Optik stores all of your information from your Optik ID including your identity and health records, gives the option for you to even translate other languages on-the-go into your language, among other helpful uses that benefit the populace.
But for DedSec and various hackers across the world, the Optik can be homebrewed, exploiting various of its abilities for the benefit of hackers. While this is usually illegal and taboo, almost every member of DedSec including Aiden has been fitted with an Optik completely encrypted to act outside of Blume’s ctOS system. Aiden in particular uses this in tandem with his phone and earpiece for familiar and more precise hacking.
Most important for its usage in the series, the Optik can alter one’s perception, which can be useful granted it gives Aiden the means to visualize something as simple as a police chase and escape it … or allows others to disguise themselves through alteration of the Optik’s eyesight. This mechanic is what Aiden Pearce and many of the playable characters use to disguise themselves as invisible in fights, for example. In addition, he can actively hack objects he’s connected to with his phone via the simple press of a button on his ear piece, though more convoluted and precise hacking may require him to switch to his phone. Aiden’s Optik also allows him access to VR, granting him the ability to not just peer through physical objects but also through the dark due to his exploited nature of the system. This gives him the ability to detect enemies through walls and plan quick evasions. Aiden is also depicted as being able to easily hack into Optiks with his cellphone, giving him the ability to fill your eyes and ears with screeching static.
While Aiden does use his smartphone more consistently, the Optik still makes it so that every need from a phone can be replicated simply by processing information in your mind; the connection to the optical nerve means that a phone can be easily disregarded. Despite this, Aiden’s old age makes him much more comfortable using smartphones. The most important part of this piece of equipment, though, is when DedSec modified the AI used by Optiks for their rebellion:
Bagley
Bagley is an AI created by the founder of Broca Tech, Skye Larson, with the intention to create a being solely dedicated to opposing forces against their massive monopoly. Bagley holds a status as the greatest AI in the world, constantly streamed to every Optik to help you and learn your daily routine… and even deport you??? So, such a powerful AI being in the hands of the corporations and not the people wasn’t right.
Eventually, DedSec copied over the code of Bagley, who would become a force against London’s big tech corporations as a favor for “freeing” him. He primarily acts in a remote server in the DedSec safehouse that streams to all of its members. Thus, he acts as a great source of intel and organization for the rebellion, both managing missions and supporting its individual members in achieving success. As an AI originally designed for enforcement and control, Bagley is able to assist Aiden Pearce in various ways by reusing his abilities for the greater good. After all, he’s uploaded with the information and knowledge of every human online and his own consciousness, so he’s a pretty good friend to have.
He can give information about taking down an enemy, construct environment replications off of accessed camera data, and create a massive EMP blast by overloading servers. He is also able to support extents of hacking in Aiden’s control, as well as give him mission information and pinpoint targets he needs to find/take down; given he can actively control and act in ctOS devices to the point of replicating the routines of his users, it’s very likely he can also perform hacks to support Aiden. Due to his connection with ctOS 3.0 and his massive training model, it gives him the means to find information on any records within the entire system… a global-wide scale of information. He’s smart enough to predict how people act via this info training, he knows about the personal lives of any person in the system, and he can detect what other ctOS tech like Optiks may be doing, showcasing the sheer range of Bagley’s knowledge. Most uniquely, Bagley is also able to stream a copy of himself to other devices when he controls them, which is how he survives in the end of the game since he was able to enter a drone; he presumably streams from DedSec’s base too, so there’s no way you can hack him remotely either.
Wetware Virus
In WATCH_DOGS: Scars and Stripes, Aiden with help designed a virus that disrupts and attacks Wetware, brand-new cybernetics that are the core focus of the story. It shuts down functions of Wetware cybernetics, using this to permanently disable them. Aiden had also experimented with the virus so that it could also harm the user of the cybernetics, despite his hesitancy to first develop it.
The Wetware virus, due to its intentional target of humanoid cybernetics, was specifically designed with the form of real world infections and viruses in mind. Wetware is a heavily encrypted, viral system that is constantly learning and adapting, so Aiden had to focus his efforts on working around not just these defenses but the potential of the system outgrowing his virus.
For combat purposes, this virus has an upload range of fifteen feet, forcing Aiden to engage in close quarters with those he can hack. He has shown to upload this within combat even without his phone, making it a deadly option against foes who may rely on Wetware or Optiks. However, while this description makes it seemingly unusable on typical systems, the virus functions via overloading systems by flooding them with data. Given that Aiden is directly shown weaponizing viruses in the novel against other tech users, it could possibly be usable even against non-Wetware tech if he’s out of options.
Baton
Aiden’s most iconic weapon and tool, the Baton is a close-quarters weapon designed to be able to take down almost any target. It is potent enough by the end of the game to take down armored Enforcers in just a few hits, breaking through their armor. Ever since Aiden’s first appearance, he has almost always used it to take down targets with almost zero replacements.
Various Firearms
Aiden is an expert with guns thanks to growing up on the street around crime, having been self-taught and even took professional marksmanship classes. As a result of his youth, he’s clearly very skilled with it being able to accurately shoot a man through his heart and generally dispatch large numbers of officers or gang members in close quarters combat.
Pistols
Px4: A versatile and accurate handgun which is simply an all-rounder, not having any particular stand-out traits. It’s one of the handguns that Aiden outright uses in cutscenes, which makes sense with how consistent it is as a weapon.
1911: A world-renowned handgun that Aiden uses to take down enemies, it packs a punch at close range and is one of Aiden’s most reliable pistols. Aiden can also equip this with a silencer for a more stealthy option.
P-9mm: A cheap and moderately weaker handgun which Aiden can use. Due to it being one of the cheapest guns, it’s best for saving money, but compensates with having some of the weakest damage of any gun that Aiden uses.
D50: The D50 is an iconic handgun with a long range that allows Aiden to take down targets at… well, a range. This acts as a reliable firearm with its consistency in taking down targets at this extended range which other handguns cannot match well.
M8-M: The M8-M is a great revolver for marksmen with a sleek Italian design, dealing consistent and heavy damage to any of Aiden’s enemies.
R-33: A special Russian designed handgun which shoots a burst of bullets at enemies, granted its automatic nature. It’s very inaccurate, unsurprisingly, but compensates with a well off damage rating, a very high round count, and spectacular fire rate. Aiden can use an alternatively more accurate version of this gun known as the R-33B.
MP-412: A special, moderately powerful handgun which Aiden can only find when you scan a special code for the Console version of WATCH_DOGS. Neat!
Chrome: The Chrome is a powerful three-round burst revolver that Aiden can use in a fight which deals a powerful punch, being able to penetrate armor. It is an upgrade to the M8-M.
Auto-6: A red, six-round burst revolver that Aiden wields which packs a powerful punch, acting as a direct upgrade to the Chrome and M8-M with its damage and vastly increased fire rate.
MP-9mm: A machine pistol with a collapsible stock that Aiden uses, having a high stability making it one of Aiden’s most accurate machine guns despite lacking in other regards like overall damage.
SMG-11: A one-handed machine pistol with a strong rate of fire, although the recoil is rather potent. It can also be equipped with a suppressor for the stealthiest of missions.
Assault Rifles
416: A German assault rifle best for ranged fights, which has a high rate of fire that makes up for the rather low damage in turn. Due to the lack of bullet penetration and recoil, it becomes unsuitable on armored targets but does work rather well with weaker targets.
Wildfire: A heavily-modified 416 with an immensely-increased rate of fire, although retaining very similar statistics to the rifle otherwise.
417: An assault rifle with a higher calibre than the 416, resulting in greater damage and a similar fire rate. As a result, it has a smaller magazine size, and only shoots in a 3-round burst.
ACR: The latest in American technology, the ACR has unmatched power to any other assault rifle and holds high armor penetration. This strength comes at the cost of a low fire rate, however.
Biometric Rifle: An iteration of the ACR in camo now equipped with a biometric scanner that prevents anyone but Aiden from using it, with it now having a greater rate of fire than the ACR.
AK-47: Your good ol’ reliable, this weapon is great for medium-range encounters and grants a rather high armor protection.
Goblin: A brutally efficient assault rifle with a large capacity of ammo and extensive range, although the burst-fire makes it unreliable for longer range combat. It can also be equipped with a suppressor for more stealthy maneuvers.
Sniper Rifles
AC-AR: A powerful sniper rifle modified from a three-round burst assault rifle. It is a versatile weapon that can be used in the same grounds as other assault rifles but can otherwise be wielded at greater ranges with standard penetration damage.
M107: A sleek and highly powerful .50 calibre sniper rifle that can rip through practically any material, and offers the greatest range of any weapon in Aiden’s kit. These rounds can ensure the means to one-shot targets, as well as being able to cross any range due to its immensely high accuracy. A modified version of this called The Destroyer has the power to one-shot any enforcer or vehicle with even more devastating penetration power.
SR-25: A modular semi-automatic sniper rifle with powerful recoil, but a very high damage per round fit with extremely high accuracy in turn.
SVD: A lightweight Russian sniper rifle that offers average penetration and high damage across ranges, ensuring the means to end fights immediately within that distance.
Machine Guns
Gangster: A gold-dipped version of the M1 SMG, a powerful machine gun that is built like an old fashioned Mafia machine gun of the Prohibition era. It has a moderately high fire rate across a 50 round clip.
U100: A common light machine gun with a high fire rate across a 75 round magazine which are carried around by Enforcers. It deals high damage, and is inversely one of the strongest tools on their own for taking down the Enforcers in question when Aiden gets his hands on one.
OCP-11: A small high-caliber assault rifle with immense range and a great fire rate, despite its lack of accuracy and lesser damage. This makes it best at a closer range despite its range, as it is very inaccurate due to the high recoil it has behind it.
MP5: A fully-auto machine gun that works best in close encounters with Aiden, it’s a very precise machine gun with a high fire rate which makes it perform best against the aforementioned close encounters. However, it is much weaker against armored opponents.
R-2000: A Russian-designed submachine gun that excels in riot control and close combat. It is best for missions at close range, as it is efficient and agile without extra recoil. It is, however, not powerful against unarmored foes and will become much less reliable when burning through so much ammo.
Vector .45 ACP: A powerful short-range submachine gun with a ton of recoil resistance, having such a high rate of fire that just pulling the trigger once can shoot two bullets at once. It can also be suppressed, making it a similarly powerful stealth too. However, it is not powerful against armored targets due to its ammunition type.
Shotguns
ATSG-12: A fully automatic stainless-steel shotgun with a high rate of fire and tremendous damage, making it a powerful room-clearing weapon.
D12: A small, concealable shotgun that makes it a great option for stealth. Due to its lack of range, it works best at short range combat and deals heavy damage at such ranges.
SGR-12: A Russian-built semi-auto shotgun, maintaining a rather high fire rate and damage at the cost of immense recoil. Ultimately, it works best at a close range due to this recoil and barrel length.
M1014: A semi-automatic shotgun with a high rate of damage built especially for close-quarter combat. While this military-grade weapon is particularly strong at close-quarter combat, it can work across a variety of ranges.
SG-90: A classic pump-action shotgun that can break through any enemy in front of Aiden, although it is horrible at any other range. A modified version named the Piledriver is also available, which inflicts even more damage and shoots in a 3-round burst.
Less-than-Lethal
LTL AP-GL: A non-lethal grenade launcher that shocks and incapacitates enemies.
LTL Dart Gun: A non-lethal tranquilizer dart gun that can knock out enemies.
LTL Goblin: A non-lethal burst assault rifle that shocks and incapacitates enemies.
LTL MP9: A non-lethal full-auto shock SMG that shocks and incapacitates enemies.
LTL MCX: A non-lethal semi-auto shock SMG that shocks and incapacitates enemies.
LTL 1014: A non-lethal shotgun that shocks and incapacitates enemies.
LTL SG: A short-range non-lethal shotgun that shocks and incapacitates enemies.
LTL Stun Gun: A stun gun which shocks and incapacitates enemies.
Miscellaneous
G106: A hefty single-shot grenade launcher that detonates on impact. It is most ideal for destroying grouped-up targets due to its high damage, despite its lack of a high rate of fire.
GL-94: A powerful pump-action grenade launcher that works best at a short range, and can hold up to four grenades at once.
GL-06: A powerful grenade launcher which deals a high amount of damage at the trade-off of a very low reload time and clip size.
AP-GL: A powerful single-shot grenade launcher which can be used freely one-handed.
Paintball Gun: A single-shot gun that shoots out paint balls which can disorient enemies and incapacitate them.
Nail Gun: OUCH. It shoots nails. There’s not much more to it.
Various Grenades
Frag Grenades: Kablooey! Aiden can throw out frag grenades that detonate after a set fuse time once the pin is pulled, which launches shrapnel in an area.
Improvised Explosive Device: An explosive that can be crafted by Aiden, the IED can be thrown or placed down in order to set up a trap. By hacking it, which can be done at a distance or remotely when hacking through devices, it creates a devastating explosion. Aiden is able to improve this into a Proximity IED, which can detonate based on close contact rather than needing to be hacked.
Tear Gas: Don’t want to get that in your eyes… Irritates your skin and makes it horrible to fight. Chicago needs a hero!
Smoke Grenade: This grenade pops out with a bunch of smoke, great for concealing oneself.
Paint Bomb: Surely this will be useful in a fight!
Various Gadgets
Lure: A small noise device which can be used to lure unsuspecting enemies to distract and draw them in. Simple enough.
Jam Comms Gadget: A gadget designed to jam the communication of enemies. Pretty simple. It can be used to prevent signals, such as phone service or police tracking, can disable opposing hacks or encryptions, pause access even when being hacked, and can primarily be used to disable reinforcements so that lone enemies can be taken out without needing to take on more combatants. This has become less and less needed for Aiden as modern phones and networking exploits have given him the ability to interfere with comms solely via his phone.
Blackout Gadget: A powerful gadget that Aiden can use in a pinch if he can’t perform this with his phone, the Blackout device allows Aiden to completely shut down every power source in the city and anything that interacts with ctOS. With this, Aiden can gain the ability to land a beat down on opponents or just create chaotic opportunities for a getaway.
System Crash: In LΞGION, Aiden has System Crash instead of Blackout. It shuts down all technology and devices in the area, but has a much smaller range and only targets individuals. Additionally, the System Crash ability lasts less time, meaning that enemies can still gun down Aiden in time.
ctOS Scan: A powerful ctOS scan that allows Aiden to scan all nearby enemies, giving him the ability to detect their ranks in the force and identities as well as highlighting them through walls. This also allows Aiden the ability to search all nearby citizens, wielding a special facial recognition system in the same vein as the police that could be blocked in the same way Aiden does. However, while the police maintain a weakness of being jammed or getting out of range, Aiden lacks such weakness in his usage of the technology. Rather than over a period of time like the police force, Aiden can instantly scan the surrounding area without fear of being jammed.
Infiltrator Spider-Bot: A small miniature RC robot that can sneak through defenses to look into enemy bases and bestow intel. It can even take down targets for Aiden! It can be upgraded to have a double jump and cloaking abilities.
Combat Spider-Bot: A combative spider-bot built for missions of combat which can fight alongside Aiden armed with a powerful turret. It can be upgraded to become more potent or be controlled manually when giving supporting fire.
AR Cloak: A cloak of invisibility! It disguises Aiden in order to become invisible for a short time, which can be upgraded for longer rates of invisibility when sneaking and gives Aiden the ability to perform greater ranges of takedowns while invisible. This only works on enemies due to the innate ability of altering vision via the Optik’s ctOS.
Electro-Shock Mine: A mine which detonates to shock enemies. It can be tossed or stuck to surfaces in order to activate when an enemy comes close, dealing devastating damage and incapacitating them. It can be upgraded to wield an EMP in its explosive, which is highly damaging to anyone in its radius by virtue of everyone’s reliance on technology.
Electro-Fist: A brass-knuckles style of weapon which can instantly knock out enemies by hitting them with a single blow, shocking them to being unconscious. It can be upgraded to immediately arc towards nearby enemies with powerful blows, and emit a disorientating shockwave.
Missile Drone: A powerful drone that can be controlled by Aiden. It can be upgraded to launch out more missiles and home in on enemies with all of their missiles.
Car on Demand
Thanks to the app, Car on Demand, Aiden Pearce can access practically any vehicle in the city. There’s a lot of them so we won’t bring up a list, but he has shown to draw upon a wide variety of different vehicles. This ranges from your standard muscle and sports cars, limos, motorcycles, trucks, and even helicopters. This is also present in other games, though WATCH_DOGS is where you can most clearly see Aiden taking cars into fights.
Abilities
Hacking
Aiden’s main ability is the usage of Hacking through the ctOS system that expands across nearly all forms of technology in Chicago (and later anywhere in the world once ctOS became the global standard), where he can control the environment within the area like bridges, the traffic, city cameras that he uses to scout out areas, the system of trains for quick-getaways, or use more miscellaneous hacking abilities such as electronic jamming or detecting all nearby crime through ctOS’ facial recognition system. Through the usage of the ctOS system or just wielding his phone, he can identify anyone in the database by hacking them or trace phone calls to find someone’s identity, and listen into conversations they’re having. He can even detect more direct characteristics, such as an enemy’s hostility level or their awareness levels, or he can detect if someone is trying to hack around him including Damien (who had full control over ctOS) and other fixers. He can also perform his hacking without explicitly drawing out his phone, a tactic he’s very well known to use when deceiving people.
Most importantly, Aiden’s phone gives him full control over anything under ctOS - not just manipulating their systems and infrastructure, but actively manipulating the code beneath it. He can alter data and code, hack into nearly any record or destroy them, and can go as far as disabling the entirety of Chicago with his control… whenever he feels like it. Aiden doesn’t only hold control over ctOS though, as he was also able to hack Caleb Quinn’s pacemaker located in his chest and entirely shut it off and he can hack devices that are entirely off the grid in an area without ctOS access.
As an expert of ctOS who has adapted to each new iteration developed, as shown in his appearance in both WATCH_DOGS 2 and LΞGION, it is more than reasonable enough to compare Aiden to other hackers across the series. With that in mind, we can establish his “general abilities”; a comprehensive list of some of the avenues of Hacking beyond Aiden’s displayed range of influence.
General Abilities
Hackers in WATCH_DOGS can search and discover the identities of others through the government system of ctOS, granting information to be known such as their mood, occupation, age, sexuality, gender, etcetera. However, hackers can also mask themselves in cameras and cover their face so no one can discover their identity through ctOS, which Aiden performed in his data erasure that made him unrecognizable to the city of Chicago without information from citizens due to his immunity to their facial pattern recognition.
Aiden is able to dig deeper, being able to find connections to crimes, and passively flags those who are relevant to his mission through their identity. He can also search across the entire city for the location of someone, the potential of someone committing a crime, the potential of someone attacking him, listen in on conversations or radio chatter, etc.
Aiden can gather information about a target or citizen in order to further control them… or steal from their ATM. What a bum.
Aiden is able to detect a target’s resistances, their outfit, weapons on-hand, and any other slew of weapons, even if these weapons or gadgets are hidden. He can also detect innate weaknesses, strengths, and disabilities, allowing him to make on-demand tactics in adaptation to enemies. The latter is because Aiden’s profiler can steal medical information directly from the Optik, while other information comes from ctOS data.
Aiden can disable phone service and scramble signals with his phone, without the requirement of communication jamming devices
Hackers in WATCH_DOGS series can control cars and completely disable them to be under their control, with Aiden too having the ability to passively unlock cars and disable alarms.
Hackers in the WATCH_DOGS series are able to casually cause mass blackouts due to their control over the system, with Aiden obviously being one the greatest examples of such a maneuver.
Hackers in WATCH_DOGS, while having an inherent limited range, can extend this through being able to “joint hack”, travelling through devices such as cameras with their controllers which allows them to hack specific objects at a much greater distance than they would be able to around themselves. T-Bone showed usage of this when he was able to hack into another phone outside of the room he was contained in so that he could shut off poisonous gas being shot into the room. Even though Aiden can’t reach it directly, he could hack into the Loop servers just through access of any minor technology present in the building.
WATCH_DOGS 2 displays an entire route of hacking skills that Aiden has a comparable enough prowess in ctOS manipulation to scale, which allows one to move vehicles through control, hijack them sneakily without arousing suspicion or control them remotely, force helicopters and officers to retreat from an area, override and amplify an engine to speed up vehicles, hack cars in an area around themselves, perform maneuvers such as the communication disruption which cancels 911 calls, hack information to pinpoint crimes on targets, crash the entire city’s technology, etc. Granted abilities like these are additionally present in LΞGION, and Aiden can wield them, he should have a similar overall capacity of control over ctOS.
Bagley, and by extension the cast of LΞGION, don’t have their tech disabled by the EMP blast he created. Bagley could come back afterwards, while the playable character is able to effectively ignore the blast. This is despite the fact that the explosion disabled all drones in the area and destroyed the server at the epicenter. Aiden is also unaffected by black-outs, although it’s unlikely these ctOS attacks would target him.
In XDefiant, DedSec members can hijack enemy deployed abilities like forcefields, robots, etc. Lockout acts as an EMP, disabling all abilities and destroying active gear. As a greater hacker than average members of DedSec, Aiden could likely replicate this… but this game is pretty weird for reasons we’ll explain later.
Notoriety Abilities
In WATCH_DOGS, Aiden is able to obtain greater skills through the Notoriety mode. Due to being able to hack and take down other hackers, Aiden gains “Notoriety” which he can towards gaining more powerful skills than he would normally and often benefit his equipment. Though not all of these are direct hacking buffs, these are all accessible through hacking.
Anti-Vehicle Rounds: Increases damage to vehicles.
Nitro Boost: Increases the duration of a vehicle’s nitro boost.
Jam Coms Boost: Increases the duration of the Jam Coms gadget.
Precision Hacking: Decreases the size of an enemy Hacker’s area that can be tracked, allowing for an easier way to scope them out.
Security Footage: Bestows Aiden with a picture of the enemy by exploiting ctOS camera systems, allowing him to pick them out of a crowd. Becomes especially useful when near a disguised enemy.
Focus
One of Aiden’s primary abilities in combat is known as “Focus”, a perception-slowing ability that allows him to halt time. With this enhanced perception, he can aim at targets before they can fully react to him, and thereby take them out with a well-aimed gunshot. This is demonstrated as Aiden’s reaction time to decisions in gunfights, varying between four seconds and seven seconds straight. He can also use it in melee conflict and vehicle chases, ensuring he can act swiftly in any scenario to end a fight. With the addition of pills such as Focus Boost or enhancing his motor functions by playing Chess, Aiden can stay on his toes all the time in combat that would require him to stay on guard.
Skill Tree
In WATCH_DOGS, Aiden Pearce is able to upgrade himself and his capabilities as he stops crime across the city. This allows Aiden Pearce to expand his overall kit and powerset, making missions much easier.
Focus: First unlocks the ability for Aiden to use Combat Focus. Aiden can vastly increase its duration with Improved Focus and in the final stage Maximized Focus. He can also increase the rate of which he slows down time with Slowed Focus, and replenish his Focus Meter when he’s at critical health with Critical Focus.
Quick Switch: Increases Aiden’s weapon switch speed.
Pistol Expert: Increases the fire rate of semi-automatic pistols.
Shotgun Expert: Increases shotgun damage against vehicles.
Sniper Rifle Expert: Increases the steadiness of aiming with sniper rifles.
Auto Weapons Expert: Increases burst precision with all automatic weapons.
Steady Aim: Decreases weapon recoil at hipfire.
Demolitionist: Grants Aiden the ability to carry more explosives. Expert Demolitionist increases this cap further.
Bullet Resistance: Decreases the damage Aiden takes from bullets.
Blast Resistance: Vastly decreases the damage Aiden takes from explosives.
Enforcer Combat Takedown: Grants Aiden the physical power to take down highly armored units in direct melee combat.
Rapid Reload: Increases the reload speed on all weapons.
Car Unlock: Aiden passively unlocks cars he enters and disables car alarms.
Defensive Driver: Aiden takes reduced car crash damage.
Precision Driver: Grants less of a chance for Aiden’s tires to blow out when driving.
Off-Road Driver: Increases Aiden’s off-road handling.
Escape Artist: Amplifies Aiden’s stealth when hiding in vehicles.
Offensive Driver: Amplifies Aiden’s damage to enemies via vehicle collision.
LΞGION Abilities & Gadgets
In WATCH_DOGS LΞGION, Aiden has gathered more potent usages of his hacking.
Attract Hack: Aiden can lure enemies towards explosive objects and detonate them.
Chase Drone Hacks: Aiden can hack London’s wandering drones and use them against enemies. This can be upgraded to target other drones, too.
CT Drone Hacks: Aiden can hack London’s anti-terrorist drones, offering the same upgrades as the Chase Drone Hack where it can target enemies and other drones.
Disruptment: Aiden can hack into an enemy’s implants which prevents them from calling reinforcements. He can likely apply this disruption to other services rather than requiring additional tech like in WATCH_DOGS, given that it is a replacement of Jam Coms.
Gun Hack: Aiden can hack into an enemy’s gun and jam it for a quick and eventful surprise attack.
Parcel Drone Hack: Aiden can hack delivery drones which can be used as a platform.
Riot Drone Hack: Aiden can hack and shut down Riot drones, which are some of the strongest technology used by enemies. This can be upgraded to control them against enemies or fellow drones.
Turret Hack: Aiden can shut down turrets or hijack them to target enemies or other turrets.
Aiden can also upgrade his general kit to gain stronger abilities, whether through direct hacking or physical modification.
Shroud: Upon taking a target down, turns the body invisible to enemies. This is due to modifying perception in Optik users.
Skin Mesh: Reduces the damage Aiden takes.
Deep Profiler: Allows Aiden to look deeper into a target’s schedule and background, granting more background knowledge on them. Useful for recruiting people into DedSec or analyzing weaknesses of enemies.
Chase Drone Deactivation: After knocking down a chase drone, Aiden can approach it and permanently shut it down.
Turret Deactivation: Grants Aiden the ability to approach a turret from behind and permanently shut it down.
Combat Drone Deactivation: After knocking down a combat drone, Aiden can approach it and permanently shut it down.

Scaling
DedSec Operatives
DedSec is one of the major players in WATCH_DOG’s cyberterrorism plot, present across all three games. With Aiden eventually joining their side in LΞGION as an older man, it makes sense for Aiden to scale to their best members given he was able to fight with Wrench very well out of his physical prime. Aiden has also fought with T-Bone while drunk who would go on to be a member of DedSec in WATCH_DOGS 2, and has overpowered Jordi who has also gone on to engage in altercations with Marcus.
The Shuffler outfit gives Marcus the option to crush people into a ball and break all of their bones, killing them on the spot (583.4 Kilojoules)
T-Bone could take out a duo of officers before one could pull their trigger.
T-Bone can withstand gunshots from sniper rifles
Three of Wrench’s explosions could bust through a concrete wall.
Aiden survived one of Wrench’s weaker explosions, though it shot lethal shrapnel into his chest.
WATCH_DOGS Antagonists
A self-explanatory category, Aiden should be comparable to many of the series’ antagonists. While he doesn’t take a role in WATCH_DOGS 2 against any of its foes, he is your playable character in the original game and thereafter in LΞGION where he fights against various enemies.
Jordi survived falling off of the lighthouse without notable injuries as of WATCH_DOGS 2 (9.8 Kilojoules)
Jordi can physically wrestle with Marcus and sling him over his shoulder.
Nigel could withstand the destruction of his Prototype and the subsequent explosion
Aiden can physically beat down on Nigel with his baton to overpower him.
Sabine might have survived her fall. Trust me.
Enforcers can survive point-blank explosions,
Goda & Stainless Steel Bat
These two are members of DedSec Japan unique to the WATCH_DOGS T⬤KYO manga. Given that the manga’s storyline occurs simultaneously to the main game, it makes sense for Aiden to be physically comparable; after all, these characters are not narratively far off in physicality from others in the series. Additionally, Goda and Stainless Steel Bat (we’ll call him SSB for future reference) have fought trained officers and skilled hackers in Japan who should be no stronger than the Enforcers that Aiden faces off in his own game.
Goda was able to block a baton before it could hit him in the face.
Goda uses a bicycle to block two taser shots, which hit around 205 feet per second in speed (Mach 0.18)
SSB hits two guards with a taser before they and others can react.
SSB narrowly dodges gunfire when rolling.
SSB was able to dodge the explosion of a drone at point-blank, which is designed to shoot out shrapnel akin to a hand grenade (Mach 2.9 - 12.11)
Weaknesses
Unfortunately, Aiden isn’t completely perfect. With a life filled with depression and constantly losing the trust of his family members, he has had to fall back into the shadows ever since he busted the underground crime in Chicago. His temper often always gets the best of him, which caused him to get in deep trouble upon making his way to California during his year-long vigilante spree post-WATCH_DOGS.
Beyond some unregulated emotions, Aiden does have a few tech flaws. His cellphone can still be hacked remotely, though Aiden can decrypt and “unhack” his phone in these occurrences and access firewall protection. His cellphone also has a limited battery, and a variety of his certain hacks without ctOS 3.0 require charges to be used or entirely different devices. This can make it very troublesome if Aiden Pearce is caught in direct combat and must use them, since he’ll have to put down the guns for a second.
Dokkaebi
“Your phone is ringing. Here, let me get that for you.”
Background
Grace Nam was an overachiever; she did the kinds of things that no one would have expected for a girl of her age. She built her own computers, and played ball with the neighborhood boys, and her desire to succeed her peers within an environment she controlled caused fights at school. But more than anything, her sharp tongue was not appreciated by her teachers, which frequently got her into more trouble than it was worth. Even though she was a troublemaker at heart, in this world, she needed to adapt to survive. To do so, Grace bought fake glasses and adopted a fake persona; the one of a geek girl.
Of course, you can’t keep the habits of a troublemaker down forever. After getting a National Scholarship at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, she decided to enlist in the military. She was initially assigned to the National Intelligence Service, but the mundanity of office life quickly got to her and she managed to make her way into the 9th Special Forces Brigade. Her tactics and adaptability were quickly noted by many of her peers, and during training, American guest instructors encouraged her to try new things, like joining the 707th Special Mission Group; the White Tigers.
The White Tigers were a better fit for her talents, but unfortunately Grace faced adversity from within. Major General Kuh was conservative in his training methods; he was an old soldier with political ties up to the Blue House and expected complete loyalty from his subordinates, something that he would not get from Grace. He placed constant pressure on her, making life in the 707th difficult and preventing Grace from reaching her full potential while within the squadron. In passing, she heard about Team Rainbow; an international group of expert operatives from counter-terrorist units all across the globe. It was the opportunity for Grace to contribute to something with her strongest skills, but she knew that the Major General wouldn’t even stop to think about putting her on, so she had to think outside the box; by hacking the system.
Thus, Grace made her way into Team Rainbow under the name Dokkaebi, named after the ogres of Korean mythology. Unfortunately, her early years in Rainbow weren’t going very strongly either. Kuh was unsurprisingly not happy about Grace joining Rainbow and actively made attempts to get her expelled from the White Tigers to threaten her position in the group. Grace began suspecting her 707th colleague Vigil of spying on her for the Major General, and she also butted heads with SAS operative Thatcher due to her supposed reliance on technology. She was tired of constantly having to prove her worth, and the latest director (“Six”) of Rainbow, Harry Pandey, heard her concerns.
Harry was there when Grace hacked her way into joining, and he really didn’t mind. In fact, he embraced it. To him, that was simply a sign of her promising talent, and to put red tape over that would simply be a waste. Rainbow needed to adapt to remain the best of the best, and to Harry, it all relied on the ability of his operators to lead themselves. Those like Dokkaebi, who could challenge the future, and those like Thatcher, who could remind it of its roots. A relationship not like a hammer and nail, but perhaps more like a hammer and scalpel. So while her beginnings were quite rocky, Dokkaebi found her footing in the group.
Harry sought to improve the synergy of Rainbow’s operators by having them participate in the Program, a training regimen to help operators understand each other better. Unfortunately, his plans came to a halt when he was murdered by Deimos, a rogue Rainbow operator and leader of the Keres Legion, a terrorist organization. Rainbow, split into squadrons under Harry’s leadership, began hunting for Deimos, and Dokkaebi’s abilities were crucial in retrieving intel on the group.
Unfortunately, this painted a massive target on her back, and during an assault on Rainbow’s base of operations, Dokkaebi was kidnapped by the Keres Legion’s second-in-command, Phobos. For quite some time, Grace was out of commission, being interrogated by Phobos for what she had on Rainbow and what they obtained on them. Fortunately, she managed to escape just as her usefulness ran out, and managed to reunite with her allies at Rainbow with even more intel on the Keres Legion’s plans. But Rainbow’s repeated failures in dealing with the group were too damning for the Global Security Alliance Council (GSAC), who wanted Rainbow shut down immediately for their blunders. But what Dokkaebi had gathered was enough for Rainbow to take action in one last operation, and in one fell bullet, she put an end to Phobos.
For two years after that, Dokkaebi wouldn’t touch a gun. Rainbow was dead in the water and there was zero chance that she would be allowed back into the 707th given her history, so she worked with GSAC on cybersecurity measures. But in Rainbow’s absence, the world was going to shit. The Keres Legion had more cells, and it slowly started to wiggle its way back through attacking central intelligence facilities all across the globe. Even with the presence of mercenary groups formed with the remnants of Rainbow’s operators, it was clear that they needed to return. Though she wasn’t initially considered, the new director, Bishop, recognized the need for Dokkaebi’s skills, and she returned to duty when it called.
This time around, there would finally be nobody to hold her back. Just her wits and cunning, ready to use in the fight in the threats the world faced now and the ones yet to come.
Experience and Skill
Grace is 29 years old, putting her amongst the younger bracket of Rainbow’s operators. Do not take this as meaning that she is inexperienced however; her military history would show you otherwise. She’s been serving ever since she graduated college at the age of 22, and immediately after enlisting, joined the National Intelligence Service, alternatively known as the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA). She didn’t participate in any… black ops… herself, and that kind of office life was quite boring, so she later signed onto the 9th Special Forces Brigade, where she underwent rigorous training in mountaineering, survival techniques, and guerilla warfare.
This experience allowed her to go even further beyond when she joined the 707th Special Mission Group, where she received further training from other special forces groups like the Canadian Joint Task Force 2 (JTF2), the French Groupe d'intervention de la Gendarmerie nationale (GIGN), and the British Special Air Service (SAS), the lattermost of which is most well-known for their near-flawless execution of Operation Nimrod during the events of the Iranian Embassy Siege. She even has a friend and mentor in Thatcher, who participated in said operation!
In Rainbow, some of her allies are under the impression that Dokkaebi is over-confident, but the reality is that she’s constantly pushing herself to be better. The past annoys her deeply, the feeling of constantly having to prove herself over and over again to others just to be chastised for it is a part of that drive for wanting to be better. Director Harry knew these traits of Dokkaebi’s and encouraged her to embrace herself, to be someone who could breathe new life into Rainbow’s tactics while paired with those who could stay true to its origins. This pep talk would be needed for the Program started by Harry. As a part of it, Dokkaebi participated in the Tournament of Champions, where Team Rainbow would face each other in what was broadcast as public training exercises, and won two years in a row under Ash’s leadership.
The Program came to a halt when the private military company Nighthaven poached some of Rainbow’s operators, so Harry believed it best to split his operators under different specialized squads based on the roles they play in combat. Dokkaebi was placed in Viperstrike, the most versatile unit of the team, described as…
“Operating by the book, they guarantee that any task they take on will be done exactly as expected, regardless of the complications. They are the first choice for a mission that needs to be done quickly and cleanly, like surgical strikes.”
Rainbow would have to band closer together when Harry was murdered y the Keres Legion, and Dokkaebi was crucial in obtaining intelligence on the group, including on upcoming attacks. This made her a priority target for the group and she was taken captive in the middle of a hectic battle at Hereford Base. She was kept in captivity for quite some time, but no one ever said she was a damsel-in-distress. Grace played to her strong points, allowing the enemy to downplay her while she devised a plan to escape. During this, she evaded certain death twice, by saying words that Phobos wanted to hear just as he was about to pull the trigger, and second by keeping a hidden blade on her which she used to kill the guard watching over her and escaping her chains. She managed to piece together the Keres Legion’s plans from context clues and pushing buttons while being interrogated, and the information she gained was used to stop their further plans; one last raid before Rainbow shut down resulted in Dokkaebi taking down Phobos.
For two years after that, Dokkaebi was out of commission in combat, but that doesn’t mean she’s out of practice. The latest director Bishop sought Dokkaebi out in combating the revived Keres Legion, and she got right back into her old habits like she’d hardly changed. These days, even her mentor Thatcher claims that he’d only slow her down, showing her improvement as a fighter over the years.
Psychological Report
Harry
Grace Nam is playful, clever, serious, and reckless as her codename — Dokkaebi — implies. She's also mischievous. Recent reports say she's been pushing herself beyond her limits and the team has expressed concern that she's over-confident. Added to that, we have past disciplinary reports stating that her actions have been "unorthodox," which I can believe. I was there when she hacked the system; I saw the promise when other people wanted her punished. [...]
Nam's a talented operator. But it's important to note that she's one of the younger Rainbow recruits and has little combat experience. This job is intense, and the stakes are high. Some days, I have the impression she would rather be behind her computer, controlling things from where no one can touch her. But she wants to improve; she wants to change. And to do that, she has to challenge herself.
I'm certain the over-confidence is about fear. She's afraid she doesn't belong, that she isn't good enough. As for past disciplinary hearings, the shortcomings are with the commanders, not with Nam. A talented hacker isn't just someone who's good with code, they're a creative thinker with the ability to see connections the rest of us can't. Yes, there's recklessness. Yes, there's an element of bravado. But whatever else people may see, they must also admit that there's a method to Nam's madness. [...]
When I asked about her childhood, she boasted of schoolyard fights and described the extreme academic pressures she faced. The school would shame parents by publically [sic] comparing their children. She's carried this burden of expectation throughout her life, so to have Specialist Chul Kyung "Vigil" Hwa chastise her creates a friction that Nam will have to address. [...]
She told me her grandparents introduced her to Buddhism when she was little and that she's recently begun visiting the temple again. I'm reassured. This is her way to cleanse her mind and spirit. Her pursuit of inner balance will allow Nam to achieve her full potential. Her bluster may irritate operators such as Specialist Yumiko "Hibana" Imagawa, but I say let her be.
Bishop
When considering former Rainbow operatives for recruitment, Specialist Grace "Dokkaebi" Nam wasn't top of mind. Her good standing with GSAC as a key member of the ArchNet cybersecurity taskforce is one thing, but trust is in short supply right now, and last time she got in by hacking the system. Still, there was a factor I couldn't ignore: one of the new leaders of the Keres Legion, Nyx, is a tech savant of her own, and I needed fire to fight with.
During the initial interview, I got a colorful display of the "mask" highlighted in the reports and transcripts I had read. Nam plays the geek and the joker, wanting to be underestimated; sure, she threw some computer terms my way to show she knew what she was talking about, but I didn't have time for games. I needed the real Dokkaebi. Once she realized I was serious about her, she leveled with me, and I got to meet the woman described in Hibana's final report. Assertive, quick, sharp. I would've taken her on right then, but there was still the question of her readiness.
I put together a programme to assess and retrain exceptional candidates who have been off the field in Rainbow's absence or have experienced trauma like Nam did when she was held and interrogated by Phobos. She hadn't shot a gun since she put him down so it took her a moment to shake off the nerves, but like riding a bike, it all came back to her soon enough. In her practiced movements, I saw her mentors — Vigil, Ram, Thatcher. That she let them teach her was a sign that she was ready for more.
Still, I expect there will be some growing pains as other Specialists sign on, ones she's not as trusting with. The "trickster" will make an appearance from time to time, but I'll bring her back to reality if need be.
Equipment
Ballistic Armor
Like any soldier who cares about not dying in a fight, Dokkaebi wears armor on her person to protect herself from gunshots. No helmet, but the body armor should allow her to resist plenty of small arms gunfire, especially considering who Team Rainbow’s primary armorer is.
Mk 14 EBR Rifle
The Mk 14 EBR is the latest variant of the classic American M14 rifle and Dokkaebi’s preferred in the 2D cinematics. Powerful, yet controllable with its 7.62x51mm NATO rounds, it is able to take down any target with just two shots to the body, with a generous magazine size of 20+1 shots allowing for some decent leeway in case any shots are off-target.
BOSG 12.2 Shotgun
The BOSG 12.2 is a powerful double barrel shotgun, and Dokkaebi’s preferred primary in the 3D cinematics. Unlike most shotguns however, Dokkaebi does not load these with buckshot (which fires multiple pellets), but rather slug rounds, which fire one deadly projectile. With a well placed shot, anyone within a 25-30 meter distance would be heavily wounded or dead, even if the target is well armored.
Also fun fact, there’s a star named after it!
XK23 Rifle
The newest weapon in Dokkaebi’s arsenal is the XK23 Rifle, which she obtains after Rainbow’s reactivation two years after Phobos’ takedown. This bullpup AR strikes the balance her other weapons don’t with controllable recoil and solid accuracy allowing for versatile usage at medium ranges. However, unlike her machine pistols below, the rate of fire is not quite as fast, meaning her bullet output down range can be beaten by other fast weaponry like SMGs.
SMG-12 Machine Pistol
On the other hand, Dokkaebi’s SMG-12 is the fastest gun she has in her arsenal. This baby shoots 1270 rounds per minute, so with 32+1 rounds in the magazine, it wouldn’t take very long to empty this thing! But with good trigger discipline and recoil control (and Dokkaebi has both), it’d pour down bullets on a target before they can even blink. It also comes suppressed by default, muffling its audio and making it more difficult for her targets to track the location of gunfire.
C75 Auto Machine Pistol
Dokkaebi’s other machine pistol is the C75 Auto. It has a slightly lower magazine capacity and fire rate than the SMG-12, but makes up for that with much more controllable recoil.
It also comes with a foregrip, which is in reality just a spare magazine flipped upside down. Unfortunately, we’re talking about Rainbow Six and not Counter-Strike, so the spare isn’t loaded with any bullets and you can’t use it for an emergency reload.
93R Machine Pistol
The 93R is a machine pistol available to Dokkaebi, exclusively in Rainbow Six Mobile. Unlike its counterpart and others like it, this thing shoots in three round bursts, allowing its user to get more shots down range in less time than your average semi-auto pistol.
Weapon Attachments
Weapons these days come with their attachments, all designed to boost the effectiveness of the firearm it's placed on for different types of situations.
Scopes are separated into three types of optics.
Iron sights come with the weapon by default and allow the user to zero in faster on their target at the cost of being slightly obstructive depending on the weapon.
Non-magnifying sights (red dot, reflex, holographic) give a clearer sight picture without making the weapon zoom in too far to be unusable for close engagements.
Magnifying sights (magnified and telescopic) provide higher zoom levels for longer distances.
Barrels change the ballistics of the weapon in some form.
Flash hiders decrease the muzzle rise of the weapon while shooting.
Compensators reduce the horizontal movement of the weapon while shooting.
Muzzle brakes decrease the recoil of single-shot firing.
Suppressors decrease the weapon’s sound profile, make its bullet trails less visible, and any muzzle flash that might throw your aim off track.
Extended barrels increase the weapon’s damage profile and decrease its drop off rate, allowing for usage at longer distances.
Grips control handling of the weapon.
Horizontal grips (glorified name for no grip) increases the Operator’s movement speed.
Vertical grips increase the weapon’s recoil control.
Angled grips make reloading the weapon faster.
A laser sight can increase aiming speed at the cost of a visible point of what the user is aiming at.
Of course, there’s always skins and charms to go with your weapon too if you want to make it a little more… personal. We’re in the era of microtransactions, after all.
These cosmetics were designed by Ikumi Nakamura. It’s tough as fuck, isn’t it?
GONNE-6
The GONNE-6 is not a traditional weapon in Dokkaebi’s arsenal. Instead of using it to kill her foes, the GONNE-6 is meant to destroy any soft walls where the Defenders haven’t reinforced or to destroy any nearby gadgets. The downside is that Dokkaebi only has a single shot with this weapon.
Knife
A standard issue combat knife, which can instantly kill other operators upon contact.
Ballistic Armor Military Laptop
The Ballistic Armor Military Laptop is Dokkaebi’s primary device, which she utilizes for hacking and viewing enemy electronics.
Drones
Because Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter, it means Dokkaebi must devise a plan before entering enemy territory which she does by using one of her many drones. With her laptop, Doki is able to control a small drone to know where enemy locations are, what traps and gear they have, and as a way to scout ahead before getting shot by an unknown roamer. Normally, she is only equipped with 2 drones on her own, meaning that if an eagle eyed Defender sees them and destroys them, she won’t have many chances to maintain information.
Various Grenades
Alongside their gadget, Operators in Rainbow Six Siege also come with an additional grenade/utility item, which usually takes the form of grenades.
Dokkaebi can only select between two of these in-game (Smoke Grenades and Impact EMPs), but for versus purposes, we will be giving her all of the grenades that she has had access to over the course of the game’s history.
Smoke Grenades: A grenade that once thrown will omit a giant smoke cloud which Doki can use to either sneakily enter enemy territory or for a quick escape.
Stun Grenades: A throwable that shortly after being thrown will blind any defender looking at it for a short time, allowing for a quick and easy kill.
Impact EMP Grenade: A small EMP device that once thrown will disable any enemy gadget for a short period of time.
Frag Grenades: A throwable grenade that detonates over a fuse time, shooting out fragments.
Claymore: A placable trap that detonates remotely, shooting hundreds of steel ball projectiles that is designed to create a highly lethal zone in the radius.
Hook & Winch System
All Rainbow operators (well, mostly the Attackers like Dokkaebi) come with a Hook & Winch System, allowing them both ascend and descend any nearby buildings they climb on.
Abilities
Logic Bomb
Dokkaebi’s initial ability was the Logic Bomb; her primary tracking method. With her laptop, Dokkaebi can cause all enemy defenders' phones to start ringing, allowing her and the rest of her team to know where Defenders' locations are. It also makes it so the Defenders can’t access any cameras or tech through their phone and block any surveillance device until they shut off their phone, though a later update patch made it so that the noise would stop automatically after 12 seconds.
Jegeo Payload
After she was captured by the Keres Legion and escaped, Dokkaebi promised herself that she would never be defenseless again. In the years following Rainbow’s termination, Dokkaebi developed the Jegeo Payload, a mix of the old Logic Bomb and the Keres Legion’s own programming systems.
Instead of causing every Defender's phone to go off at once, Dokkaebi can send malware to a single person’s phone while also ringing the phone to alert Dokkaebi and/or her allies to their location. Similarly to the Logic Bomb, the target must deal with the virus quickly, but unlike the Logic Bomb, there will be consequences if it is not disabled. If they fail to disarm it in time (which takes between 4 to 8 seconds), the virus will cause their phone to overheat and explode, severely wounding the targeted Defender and causing a small ring of fire where the phone blew up that lingers for a few seconds.
Surveillance Hacking
Dokkaebi’s secondary ability is to access surveillance observation tools in her surrounding area.
The cause is quite simple, but the effect generally differs.
Prior to her rework (Logic Bomb), Dokkaebi could go over a defeated Defender’s body to hack into their phone, the process of which taking a few seconds and eventually granting her allies permanent access to the Defender’s camera feeds on their phones.
After the rework (Jegeo Payload), Dokkaebi’s hacking range is now map-wide, being able to hack any Defender’s phone from any distance as long as it hasn’t already been destroyed by the Jegeo Payload, though her access to these Defender camera feeds now only lasts for 20 seconds.
Cinematics portray this a bit differently. It seems that Dokkaebi doesn’t need to access an enemy’s phone to gain their observation tools or has a time limit, but simply needs to be within range of these surveillance tools to gain access into them.
But once she meets these conditions, there’s no stopping Dokkaebi and her allies from being able to keep tabs on their opponents. This ability also comes with the benefit of being able to hijack certain Defenders’ gadgets (e.g. Maestro, Echo, Mozzie), though Attackers cannot use the special abilities that come with them.
Feats
Hacked her way into being placed into Team Rainbow
Won the Tournament of Champions at least twice
Escaped captivity from Keres Legion without much assistance at all
Appears to have torn out a piece of a prison bar to use as a blade for her escape
Survived a giant non-lethal C4 explosion, albeit somewhat protected (at most 947.3 Kilojoules)
Killed Phobos and ended the Keres Legion’s threat
The Jegeo Payload is powerful enough to create a massive smoke explosion
“That’s it? Really?” is what you’re about to say, right?
Scaling
Yeah, really. The blasted nature of live service games don’t give their characters much breathing room when it comes to their personal achievements. This will require us to scale her to numerous other characters that she should at least downscale to at minimum to get a sense of where we can place her physically.
Team RAINBOW
This will include prior entries of the Rainbow Six series and Dokkaebi’s companions in Siege. The scaling chain should not require any explanation whatsoever; even if Dokkaebi technically cheated her way into Rainbow, she wouldn’t have stayed if she truly was not a part of the best of the best.

Sam Fisher
The legend now named Zero is suffering from arthritis and way out of his prime, but as a playable character in Rainbow Six Siege, there’s not much of a reason to assume that other operators in the game aren’t physically comparable to him… even if their strongest man got his ass whooped by him in a 1v4. But as Rainbow’s operators train under him and even fight against and alongside him, it should be reasonable enough to presume they should at least downscale to some extent.
Effortlessly overpowers Gramkos, slamming his head hard enough to shatter a urinal and punches him hard enough to shatter a quarter of the sink.

Overall Clancyverse
Elite Squad is here for illustrative purposes this game sucks
For reference, any Ubisoft game under the prefix title of “Tom Clancy’s” are all connected to each other, whether that means alternate futures or shared timelines. This includes various games like Ghost Recon, The Division, EndWar, H.A.W.X, and H.A.W.X 2… uh…
Rainbow’s operators are definitely all comparable to one another, so considering the Kingslayer Team in Ghost Recon encountered Caveira and worked with Valkyrie and Twitch to put a stop to her rampage, it’s likely they too would be comparable.
Cleaners can produce blasts with their flamethrowers and can survive the large explosions produced from their gas tanks being blown up especially via armor (510 Kilojoules)
The Special Agent can dodge missiles being shot out at him by a helicopter
The Special Agent’s Seeker Mine has a blast radius of 6 meters (5.68 Megajoules) and is comparable to a variety of other explosions in damage; enemies can survive being hit by this explosive.
Nomad can shatter doors with a kick (At least 1.14 Megajoules)
The Narco Road Ghost can accurately hit a perfect headshot on a moving airplane’s pilot
The Narco Road Ghost can bust down doors with a running kick

A soldier pulls away another before a machine gun’s fire can hit him.
Kozak can snap soldiers' necks with a single hand and casually overpower them via grappling.
Weaknesses

Activating the Logic Bomb or Jegeo Payload requires Dokkaebi to… well, activate it, which can take up a few seconds that could be precious in any fight. Her ability can also be countered by jamming devices like Mute’s, making it so the Defenders don’t need to personally shut off their phone.
Aside from that, a lot of her weaknesses are generally gameplay related rather than lore related. Her machine pistols have absurdly high recoil, which makes it hard to use outside of a close range environment, and similarly her Mk14 EBR and BOSG 12.2 aren’t built for use outside of long ranges. She may have the XK23 to make up for those shortcomings, but she can only carry so much gear with her at once.
Consider the Following
Crossover Scaling
Crossovers aren’t a major part of these characters. However, we think that you can still bring them up here due to specific characters from other series having immense plot importance.
Assassin’s Creed (Aiden Pearce)
Cited Source: Round 1 FIGHT! - Ezio VS The Prince (2025)
Though the connection has remained on and off for years between the worlds of WATCH_DOGS and Assassin’s Creed, Darcy Clarkson– a new WATCH_DOGS LΞGION character– brought up the idea that these two Ubisoft IPs share a universe. Despite this, we’ve had a few developer statements exclaim that it’s simply nothing more than an easter egg not indicative of a fully shared universe. So, pretty clear cut non-canon, and we can ignore it… right?
However, Darcy’s inclusion also showed us that the events of Assassin’s Creed’s past have occured… or, at the very least, the story of Jacob Frye. While we have no occurrences of characters like Desmond Miles shown to us, it’d be a bit odd to assume that Jacob Frye had descendents without going through a lifetime of events similar to his original story. Given Darcy is explicitly of this bloodline and Assassin’s Creed depicts each ancestry as similar physically, it would make sense for Darcy to be as strong as many of her ancestors. A different storyline may have occurred within WATCH_DOGS vs. the story of Assassin’s Creed, so we can’t just say that everything in their universe applies to WATCH_DOGS, but a vast majority of feats during and prior to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate should.
Altaïr can survive being right next to his own bombs exploding (0.25 Tons of TNT)
Edward Kenway can kill mercenaries who’ve survived massive gunpowder explosions (1.03 Tons of TNT)
Jacob and Evie Frye can dodge bullets (Mach 4.56 - 4.92)
Jacob has been hit by Isu beams, which can vaporize people (0.219 Tons of TNT)
Jacob and Evie are comparable to Arbaaz, who can dodge musket fire (Mach 4.98)
Eivor can catch arrows point blank with Missile Reversal (Mach 6.15)
Metal Gear (Dokkaebi)
Cited Source: Capejedi’s VS Prediction Blogs - Kiryu Kazuma VS Solid Snake (2025)
Operation Silent Hunt for Rainbow Six Siege sees the addition of Solid Snake as a permanent playable operator in the game. This is rather unique for Siege as most crossover content usually just comes down to cosmetic skins at most, however he is officially confirmed as canon by Ubisoft. Sam Fisher/Zero interacts with Snake in his introduction cinematic and his appearance was intended to have Zero take a backseat in Siege’s lore to focus on other characters, meaning that he does in fact have a presence in the narrative; he even shows up in the Siege comics to assist Sam on a mission!
It should be noted however, that this version of Snake is Ubisoft’s own version of the character rather than a direct one-to-one of Konami’s. The development team of Siege was given permission by Konami to shift around Metal Gear’s events to match Rainbow’s lore (likely just moving the years of these events upwards) as they flat out say that merging both worlds is impossible. Given Snake’s written background and appearance (barring his Elite skin) in-game, this seems to at least go all the way up to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, so Guns of the Patriots and Revengeance will be omitted, though it likely wouldn’t make much of a difference here.
Wait does that mean Snake VS Sam is equal stats now-
Solid Snake can punch a wall down with his bare fists (18.7 Megajoules)
Naked Snake was blasted by Volgin’s 10 million volt electricity (23.55 Tons of TNT)
Big Boss can halt a tank falling down on him (0.828 Tons of TNT)
Revolver Ocelot uses his revolver to redirect Volgin’s electricity in Metal Gear Solid 3 as well as in Volgin’s boss fight in Metal Gear Solid Delta (Mach 10 - 17.34)
Gray Fox has survived the destruction of Metal Gear D in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (Up to 0.34 Tons of TNT); This was performed by an unarmored Gray Fox.
Arknights (Dokkaebi)
Okay just hear me out for a second. Rainbow Six Siege is probably the last game that anyone would expect to have a gacha game collaboration but the director is apparently a big fan of Siege so it checks out, I’d probably collaborate with random bullshit I like too if I owned a game this massive.
In Operation Originium Dust, Ash, Tachanka, Blitz, and Frost chase after the mad scientist Levi Klitschko, who is utilizing Originium (to them, an unknown substance) to further his dangerous experiments. The operation goes smoothly until Levi activates a machine that transports him and the four members of Team Rainbow to Terra, the planet that Arknights takes place on. The group are now forced to fight for their survival as wandering mercenaries, all while exploring this new land that is familiar but not at the same time. It is first and foremost Arknights’ take on how normal Earthlings would fare in their world, and somehow it’s a really fun isekai story to read. Years later, Arknights decided to do a second collab with Siege in Operation Lucent Arrowhead, which sees Ela, Doc, Iana, and Fuze go on the hunt for the missing operators months after their disappearance and too getting put in a similar situation as those before them.
But enough of that, you have a question and I’m gonna answer it; what is this doing here?
Well, uh… it’s actually canon, at least to Arknights. All operators in Arknights have files that can be read to get a further understanding of their backstory, and Tecno, an original character that makes her debut in Operation Lucent Arrowhead and was released as a playable character long after, has Archive File 3, which contains an extensive witness report of the incident that occurred in said event. For licensing purposes, Team Rainbow is deliberately not named outright, instead being vaguely referred to as “seasoned mercs”, however it’s very clear who they are talking about and could even be explained as being described as such due to Rhodes Island concealing their identities for security, on top of the faction being unknown unlike on Earth to begin with.
So does this mean that we’re granting Rainbow Six Siege scaling from man’s worst form of gamin- I’m just kidding no we aren’t LOL
Outside of the fact that this canon doesn’t go both ways, Arknights itself literally drills it into you as you read the story that Earth’s humans aren’t even remotely close in physicality to any of Terra’s native residents, as these far physically superior opponents are taken out through Team Rainbow’s sheer skill and tactics alone. For example:
Doc notes that a point-blank shotgun blast could not take down an unarmored grunt
i’m very sure a point-blank shotgun blast is “shooting to incapacitate rather than kill”
So no, we’re not gonna go over gacha game scaling. I just wanted to yap about this because I thought it would be funny to get you a little more scared about our decision making.
Maybe I should do an Arknights blog… -Violet

Verdict
gif by Hi Hi
This is quite the unique matchup, to say the least. We’ll be splitting this verdict into five different categories; strength, skill, hacking, arsenal, and speed. There’ll also be a bonus category at the end, so stay tuned for that!
Strength
As always with any fight, the first thing most people usually ask is “who’s stronger?” We obviously should not be expecting these series to be busting down entire buildings with their hands or anything ridiculous like that, but this category is always important to consider in case this comes down to a brawl.
For starters, Dokkaebi is pretty easily comparable to Operators like Oryx. While she herself isn’t a meaty powerhouse, she can survive being slammed through walls by both him and Nomad’s Airjabs. This would clock in at around 59.6 Kilojoules, a quite impressive number! This is pretty consistent, as during the Tournament of Champions, she tanked the blast of a Nitro Cell that was strong enough to shatter bulletproof glass from a radius of at least two meters. Of note is that while Dokkaebi was partially protected by Blitz’s shield and a small distance away from the epicenter, it’s not unreasonable to say that she’d be unable to take the full force of it (186.1 Kilojoules), as it’s quite specifically designed to be non-lethal owing to the fact that she was participating in a glorified Airsoft tournament.
And while she’s not immediately comparable to characters like Sam Fisher in his prime, Oryx being able to harm him would reason that Dokkaebi is physically tough enough to downscale - and having durability on his level is pretty great. This means she would downscale from a majority of feats performed by Sam Fisher, most notably being able to bust through walls and floors. Not only can Sam bust through large blocks of ice to grab opponents (780.1 Kilojoules), but he can decimate doors with simple kicks, which can require over 1.14 Megajoules to perform. Given that characters like Nomad, who should scale to Operators like Caveira, can perform similar door-busting kicks, this is a pretty reasonable level of power for Dokkaebi.
While Aiden doesn’t have many feats for physicals off the bat – peaking at only around 9.8 Kilojoules for Jordi’s feat of falling off the lighthouse – we’ll unfortunately have to talk about WATCH_DOGS LΞGION. In this game, characters were given much higher healthpools and durability than prior entries, which gives characters the ability to survive missile explosions clocking in at 225.97 Kilojoules. Furthermore, operatives and their foes are capable of surviving massive propane explosions, clocking in at around 806.37 Kilojoules. But while that number measures the size of the explosion in-game, comparisons to real life propane tank explosions would net a yield of 430.1 Megajoules, or 0.1 Tons of TNT.
We’re not entirely done with this discussion yet, however. For Dokkaebi, we’ll also have to discuss the Archæans, an invasive alien species that debuted in Operation Chimera (yes, this event is canon if you’re wondering) and could have caused a massive epidemic, leading up to the alternate-universe game Rainbow Six Extraction. Within Operation Chimera and Extraction, the Archæans can rip through doors with around 4.3 - 9.5 Megajoules of energy. While she has not fought against the aliens herself, there is, again, no real reason to assume that she wouldn’t be able to perform the same feats that her allies can in the gamemode since we’ve already established that she would scale to them.
Though ultimately, these two hackers seem to be about as tough as the other. While Aiden’s high-end does present a possible gap that can far exceed anything Dokkaebi could scale to, the actual argument presented requires you to assume that the whole energy density of a full propane tank is outputted in an explosion, something which is likely not true when we calculate the explosive’s visible yield in-game. On the opposite end, while Dokkaebi could surely scale to that of Archæans, the power of these aliens physically exceeds Operators enough to ground them in a single attack; they may be able to power through the injuries in question, but it’s pretty difficult to consistently place Operators on this level of strength alone. After all, they do need to hit these aliens in their weak points after stunning them and are effectively bulletproof otherwise, showcasing their physical superiority.
In any case, while Dokkaebi might exceed Aiden with feats within the extended Clancyverse, Aiden is able to match and exceed any of Rainbow Six Siege’s individual feats with his own. Because of these varying arguments completely shifting the tides of a battle depending on how far you’re willing to go with the extended universe and overall scaling for Dokkaebi, we’ll call this category a draw.
Skill
So since both combatants seem relatively equal in regards to how tough they are, a hand-to-hand brawl would come down to skill. With how long Aiden’s been fighting as the Vigilante, you might think he has this category in the bag, but that’s not the case at all. Those fake glasses and geeky persona that Dokkaebi wears are just the tools that she uses to deceive the opposition into downplaying her.
Aiden’s been through… a lot of bullshit. He has a criminal history going all the way back to his young adult years, and having taken professional lessons in order to learn martial arts and firearms mastery. He can understand people with the mask of a stonecold demeanor in order to manipulate those around him, and has experience infiltrating even the strictest of compounds be it by himself or with the usage of hacks. He has gone on year-long escapades to take down targets, and his general older age would provide a reasonable advantage of experience; After all, Aiden was born around 14 years before Dokkaebi, and has been advancing his combat and tech skill since he was in his teen years.
But Aiden’s years and manipulation techniques (ayanokoji reference🌹🗿) just doesn’t stack up to what Dokkaebi can put on the table here. Even though Aiden is actually shown on-screen fighting against opponents with his baton (unlike Dokkaebi, where melees are more-or-less an afterthought in Siege gameplay), Team Rainbow is consistently described to be one of the strongest counter-terrorist units on the entire globe. While Dokkaebi herself is one of the younger members of Team Rainbow with “little combat experience”, that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t have hands of her own. She’s been in the army for seven years and in that time, has participated in joint-training sessions with the JTF2, GIGN, and SAS, all three of whom (especially the latter) are known as exceedingly well-trained anti-terror forces. No reason to think they would have provided anything short of top-of-the-line training for Dokkaebi. Especially when you consider that among her trainers within Team Rainbow would be Sam Fisher… you know, has a whole game series about how good he is at stealth and CQC, might’ve thrown down with Solid Snake in one of Death Battle’s all-time classics?
Dokkaebi’s cooler head has also gotten her out of tight situations. She’d been in the Keres’ Legion’s captivity for months and within that timeframe, picked apart the group’s purpose for keeping her alive while simultaneously plotting her escape, while her quick thinking with her words managed to keep her alive just long enough at the home stretch to take her chance. In comparison, Aiden was captured briefly by the Bratva and required Marcus’s help to break him out of prison. Obviously the circumstances of their captivity are far different from each other, but this is just kind of a general outlook at how these two can deal with some tougher situations they get placed in.
With her vastly superior combat training, Dokkaebi takes skill and would likely win in a melee battle against Aiden.
Hacking
Now we’re getting to the good stuff. This is pretty much what you’re here for, isn’t it?
At a glance, Aiden is vastly more impressive than Dokkaebi. In an ideal environment, his hacking of ctOS gives Aiden the ability to control the whole environment to his liking. He can use this in a wide variety of situations, such as planting and setting off traps, hacking cameras, or jamming signals. Despite this, there’s just one fatal flaw; Aiden’s phone is vulnerable to Dokkaebi’s Jegeo Payload. This in turn means that Dokkaebi’s device is much more potent as Aiden can’t hack her off the bat, since it would logically expose him to the virus if he leaves himself open. The Jegeo Payload is a simple counter, but that’s all you need in a fight like this.
Although… that’s not necessarily the truth. A half truth, so to speak. We’re shown in WATCH_DOGS: Stars & Stripes that Aiden is familiar with code that constantly deconstructs to make itself impossible to break through, and has both observed and constructed viruses to work around viral adaptive code not too dissimilar from Dokkaebi’s whole virus. While Aiden may struggle against encryptions simultaneously, we’ve seen him break through other complex levels of encryption for characters like Defalt, enemy fixers, or ctOS systems in a moment’s notice. Given his newfound familiarity after the novel and his years of experience dealing with both viruses and new code, Aiden should be able to understand Dokkaebi’s tech explicitly hides her program with ‘waste code’ by just glancing at it; while Aiden’s firewalls may not be enough to immediately block the incursion, there stands more than enough reason that Aiden can’t be caught by the payload because his tech doesn’t connect to networks for Dokkaebi to access unless he willingly allows it. Even so, his phone at its core should be vulnerable, despite the vast amount of firewalls and countermeasures he has set up.
Otherwise, Aiden has other advantages in the tech aspect that give him merit despite the payload being a direct counter. Aiden’s invisibility from tech without a connection would be a big advantage; being able to keep his phone disconnected from networks means that Dokkaebi’s payload would need to be activated when Aiden attacks, as it would be the only opportunity for the payload to slip through ctOS. Moreover, Aiden’s usage of DedSec Optiks in LΞGION makes it a bit harder for Dokkaebi’s payloads to infiltrate him as they are equipped with Bagley - a highly advanced futuristic AI - which acts as a secondary eyes for Aiden against foreign attacks both in the device and out in the real world, if his prior warning labels don’t activate. The best tool to bring up here that we know should work is Aiden’s communication jammers which disrupt all devices connected to ctOS - and even technology outside of primary ctOS servers - and shutting down their processes. This is not too far from the use case of Mute’s signal disruptor, which we can observe in Rainbow Six Siege as being able to instantly disable her Logic Bomb and Jegeo Payload even after infecting a phone. However, this specific act isn’t instinctive so it wouldn’t be the immediate response, just one that can be used if given the opportunity.
Of course, this isn’t to say Dokkaebi is entirely unmatched because Aiden carries a couple counters. She holds much more trained experience in hacking and her Jegeo Payload forces Aiden to properly react so as to not risk losing the entire passage of the fight; if he misses his opportunity to fight against Dokkaebi’s payload, which is very likely during a firefight, he’ll be dead. However, even with that risk and not being able to hack Dokkaebi directly, it’s pretty clear Aiden is a more resourceful hacker with more defenses than Dokkaebi’s typical targets.
Given that Dokkaebi still has clear advantages in hacking, forcing Aiden to fight against it as soon as possible to not lose the entire fight, Hacking is more than likely a tie for these two. Aiden’s phone would either be destroyed from the start, or he can quickly figure out and adapt to the payload - and both of those are equally possible scenarios.
Arsenal
With hacking ending up as quite situational, we’re back into a good old firefight. What matters a little more than physicality is firepower, and on the flipside, this category is… pretty lopsided. Dokkaebi’s arsenal is nothing short of serviceable and can match the standard firepower of Aiden’s guns, but Aiden simply has a much grander variety of them overall.
Just from a general overview, Aiden carries almost all of the same types that Dokkaebi does; Shotguns, handguns, assault rifles, practically all of Dokkaebi’s arsenal is something Aiden has an equivalent to. It also doesn’t really help her case that Aiden just carries much more of them on his person at once; as a matter of fact, he carries pretty much all of them at once (somehow) in the first game. Even with the WATCH_DOGS sequels in mind, where there’s an inventory limit for firearms, Aiden would still be able to carry several more primary weapons around than Dokkaebi does consistently. Americans really don’t have an eye for that kind of thing, huh?
Though, it should still be noted that any good (head)shot landing on the other would reasonably kill them, so the quantity of guns really wouldn’t matter much. In fact, Dokkaebi is the only one of the two here wearing armor. And it’s not just that Dokkaebi wears it, she’s more than likely wearing Rook’s improved armor, which is implied to be applicable to every Rainbow operator outside of gameplay.
However, Aiden does have a way around Dokkaebi’s armor with his large variety of explosives and gear. Factoring in his drones, electric gauntlets, EMP mines, LTL (incapacitative) firearms, and Dokkaebi’s GONNE-6 and the Stun, Smoke, or EMP Grenades simply pale in comparison to what Aiden is putting on the table. The amount of tech this guy carries is ridiculous, and despite the fact that Dokkaebi’s familiarity with the various kinds of devices that Operators use wouldn’t make it much of a surprise, she’s never fought Operators who single-handedly use this much gear at once.
In terms of mobility, Aiden would also have an edge in that Car on Demand provides a much greater means of escape and movement around an area than Dokkaebi’s rappelling gear. Sure, Dokkaebi would have a greater vertical reach, but it takes quite some time to scale buildings, and who's to say that Dokkaebi wouldn’t just end up being a sitting duck if Aiden manages to catch her in the act? Also imagine if Aiden just runs a car into her lmao
With that on top of Aiden’s ability to surprise Dokkaebi across many ranges through a variety of gear that can render Dokkaebi’s armor less useful, Aiden excels in carrying enough firepower to get the job done despite Dokkaebi’s protective measures.
Speed
This ties into what is very certainly the most important part of any gunfight; speed. And to that end, what Dokkaebi is comparable to is absurdly impressive for a grounded series. The most agile of Operators in Team Rainbow, such as Flores and Azami, have been shown dodging bullets, the latter most impressively doing so while not even looking at her target; the speeds to do such feats would clock around Mach 0.4 - 0.6. This isn’t too dissimilar to Aiden and many other DedSec members being able to evade gunfire, with those of the Japan sector having the most impressive feats; Goda has dodged tasers clocking in at around 62 m/s - or Mach 0.18 - and SSB has been able to evade gunshots at close range. Numerically, these are decently close, though Dokkaebi’s are higher, which would give her the edge.
…if it were not for Aiden’s Focus ability. Both described and depicted as honing his senses by quite literally focusing on fights, Aiden can increase his perception speed several times over. Even if Aiden was only perceiving the world twice as fast as those he fights while in Focus Mode, accounting for characters like Wrench being influenced by Focus in WATCH_DOGS LΞGION, Aiden should be at least relative in a direct firefight with it.
Plus, once you compare Aiden and Dokkaebi to some of the more impressive speed feats in their series, this gap becomes much more clear. For Dokkaebi, she should be comparable to Zero (Sam Fisher) who, in his youth, has done quite a number of impressive feats of speed. He can dodge jet missiles (Mach 1.33), weave around gunfire (Mach 4.77), and dive out of the way of RPG rockets. However, this is minute in comparison to the feats of other characters in WATCH_DOGS. As shown in WATCH_DOGS Tokyo, Stainless Steel Bat was able to dodge the shrapnel of a drone’s explosion at point-blank. To do so, she must have moved her head at speeds exceeding Mach 2.9 - 12.11. Not only has SSB done this, but she has weaved around gunfire in the same manner as other DedSec agents, so Aiden’s Focus likely stacks on top of this feat.
With this in mind, Aiden scaling to SSB would put him over 2.5 times faster than even Sam Fisher’s best feats. It should be noted that old hardware pretty notoriously does not portray gunfire very accurately, so if you decide to discard Sam’s bullet weaving (which comes from a GBA game), the speed gap would hit around 3.46 times faster, and the low-ends for both SSB dodging explosion shrapnel and Sam dodging missiles would still net a 2.46 times speed advantage still in Aiden’s favor.
Ultimately, while at a low end you could reason that Dokkaebi could take down Aiden if he’s caught off guard, her best speed arguments pale in comparison; even with medium-to-high ends, Aiden is consistently faster than Dokkaebi by at least twice over, and that’s just without accounting for Aiden’s Focus ability, which makes winning a gunfight where Dokkaebi doesn’t inherently set up an advantage for herself nigh impossible. Speed clearly favors Aiden here and gives him the edge that he needs to get Dokkaebi off his coattails.
Crossovers
This category is only really for fun and has zero impact on the verdict. As we’ve stated, we’re not really serious about using these as the conversation would just completely detract from the main universes of both games, however the avenues for these scaling chains do still exist and have arguments for being valid, which is what we’d like to talk about here. The main series we’d discuss in this regard would be Metal Gear and Assassin’s Creed.
And uh… the comparison just completely turns around on its head here when it comes to stats. In terms of strength, Solid Snake would be comparable to the other Snakes like Big Boss FKA Naked Snake, who survived getting blasted by Volgin’s 10 million volt electricity (23.55 Tons of TNT). Even the highest possible numbers that Assassin’s Creed gets, like generic mercenaries being able to facetank a gunpowder explosion (1.03 Tons of TNT) just don't come close to what Metal Gear can dish out, so theoretically, Dokkaebi would just cave Aiden’s teeth in, even if she didn’t have a skill advantage in CQC.
As mentioned before though, strength isn’t particularly a make or break in this verdict; it’s speed that determines the winner in this scenario. But likewise, this becomes a fairly easy call. While Assassin’s Creed has Eivor, who can grab arrows from a point blank range (Mach 6.15), Solid Snake would be comparable to combatants like Revolver Ocelot, who can intercept electricity with the big iron on his hip at speeds upwards of Mach 17. This speed is largely comparable or greater than what SSB performs in WATCH_DOGS Tokyo and would thus give Dokkaebi the edge in stats overall.
Again though, there are very obvious issues with using crossovers in the first place, even from outside a powerscaling viewpoint. With Assassin’s Creed, it was made very clear upon release by the developers that Darcy’s appearance in WATCH_DOGS is fan service and was not an attempt at merging the universes of both franchises together, making it blatantly non-canon and the two verses separate.
Interestingly enough however, Metal Gear doesn’t particularly require as much scrutiny. A lot of the events from the Metal Gear games are mentioned in Snake’s bio, albeit presented as somewhat hearsay from Sam.
This level of vagueness is to be expected, since…
Snake works covertly and his missions are highly classified, much like Sam
In-game bios need to be short for readers to get a rough understanding on their character
But you generally have to rely on implications rather than direct knowledge in order to assume that the presumed events happened exactly as they did in Metal Gear. As such, arguing that Snake’s achievements in Siege canon is not one-to-one with Konami’s version is damaging to this kind of scaling avenue. If you also ignore that Ubisoft was given permission to shift around Metal Gear’s events to match Rainbow Six, Siege’s story takes place in the current year (plus two for the timeskip during Year 11) then canon Snake would have already died before Siege even started due to the FOXDIE Virus.
But even taking the events of Metal Gear as canon with all the cyborg ninjas and Metal Gears and what not, it wouldn’t be a weird assumption to say Ubisoft doesn’t intend for their normal characters to be on the same level as a legend of Snake’s caliber; even Sam Fisher, who is Snake’s equal, has beaten the brakes out of Rainbow’s operators in teams singlehandedly during training sessions. On the flipside, giving leniency to the clearly disconnected Assassin’s Creed only really supports the idea of Aiden reaching Hypersonic speeds on his own, unlike Rainbow Six and Metal Gear which are vastly different when it comes to scale.
Still though, accepting these crossovers as valid would imply that Dokkaebi is faster in numbers, at least without Focus in the equation. So, does Aiden have anything to match that sort of crutch? Actually, he kind of does!
Though this was only a small idea we talked about in discussion of the debate, we could theoretically even the odds via XDefiant. For those not in the know, XDefiant was an arena shooter featuring pretty much all of Ubisoft’s “grounded” franchises in one game, which includes and is now limited to Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, The Division, Ghost Recon, and, you guessed it, WATCH_DOGS and Rainbow Six. Theoretically, all of these characters from different franchises being able to fight on even ground with each other would make them physically equal to each other, right?
But the obvious problem with this outside of XDefiant being dead in the water (people were calling this the “Call of Duty killer” btw LMFAOOOOO -Violet) and not featuring any notable characters from its featured franchises is that it’s the equivalent of using a game like Super Smash Bros. for already established characters like, say, Mario or Sonic. That alone makes XDefiant a bit questionable, but if you’re already relying on an entirely separate franchise to argue speed gaps, it’s probably a bit more reasonable to consider the fact that Ubisoft doesn’t see a physical difference between their “human” characters; and if they truly saw no difference between their human characters (thus putting them at equal stats), then Aiden would still likely win in a quickdraw as Focus would explicitly be an ability of Aiden’s unrelated to his speed. Besides that, there’s not really any other arguments you can bring up for Aiden’s crossovers that could bridge the gap besides this failed Call of Duty clone that offers scaling to series like Far Cry and Rainbow Six itself.
In short; yes, arguments for scaling Rainbow Six to Metal Gear would far exceed that of Aiden’s best arguments if you’re looking towards higher ends. But Dokkaebi doesn’t need nepo baby stats; Rainbow Six is already tough as nails for a series that’s supposed to be grounded/realistic in nature and you’re probably not going to see a “scales to Solid Snake” black box if they ever showed up on Death Battle. So again, this was only really briefly considered and we really wouldn’t fall on this as an argument for Dokkaebi winning.
Conclusion
To Dokkaebi’s credit, she very much does have a strong avenue of winning here. One activation of the Jegeo Payload against Aiden, and he would either be forced to address it in the middle of an active gunfight, leaving him wide open for an attack, or not do anything about it at all, resulting in him both getting injured from an explosion in his face and losing access to… well… literally his entire arsenal. However, for this to work, Dokkaebi needs to pretty much play a perfect game of setting up her own victory, and in a combat situation as quick and as intense as this, that’s a pretty difficult task.
With Aiden’s ability to detect and intercept the package before it successfully uploads to his device, the payload would be far too difficult to successfully drop in a fight. Pair that up with his superior speed in a firefight and overall firepower, it’d be far more likely for Aiden to skip the theatrics and gun down Dokkaebi far faster than she would be able to take advantage of his ctOS downtime.
Even with her far greater skill and gear, it becomes clear that Dokkaebi shouldn’t touch foot in the den of the gray fox – or else she’ll get bit.
The winner is Aiden_Pearce.
